Motor JT2 mechanical wear (S600 & S800)

Postby arjan » Wed Jun 15, 2016 11:18 pm

We are currently having an issue with a specific form of wear on the motor shaft, of the joint 2 connection on S600 and S800 robots.

We currently have about 5 of these typical wear patterns that are identical in type and location on the shaft, due to our factory having about 200 of these robots we are interested to find out if this occures with others that use these robots.

Below is an example of the wear on the shaft (this would be the worst case we encountered).

Question is, is there something we can do to prevent this kind of wear.
Currently the result of this wear is leakage of the joint, we expect to see the same problem with the joint 1 motor but have yet to encounter the issue on that joint (at this time we only have failures on joint 2).

If the inspection shows a damaged shaft we need to replace the motor and recalibrate the robot, we would like to limit these type of failures and are looking for a solution the prevent this from happenening on a a large scale.

Wear continues to show in the newer models with serial numbers beginning with 577 (previous problems were contained to 571 and 570) of the years 2013 en lower.

Newest wear also shows clear damage to the seal between the shaft of motor J2 and the motor seal plate. I have included two images to show how this looks when taken apart.
Does anyone have this same problem?
