Encoder error in robot cobra 800

Postby amartinezv » Tue Mar 15, 2011 1:29 pm

Hi, I was wondering if somebody could help me. I have a cobra 800 robot that has the Encoder failure error. When I turn on the robot it doesn't respond to anything, and the error mesage E1, E2, E3 and E4 is displayed on the screen, it doesn't move neither respond to orders from de PC or the Control pendant. I hope someone could help me solving this problem, thanks in advance.

The E1 - E4 error is usually an indication that the encoder on each of the motors has lost power therefore the positional data is gone. Normally this is caused by the battery in the base of the robot being disconnected or going dead. The only resolution is a factory calibration by a trained service engineer.
