stopping distance/time

We are planning on using a light curtain on the system. For the light curtain placement I need to know the maximum velocity and stopping distance/time.

What type of robot?

Actual stop times depend on the speed of the robot, the payload, and the deceleration of the stop for the robot.

The maximum delay possible when an e-stop is detected is one half second (0.5 sec) before hardware takes over and cuts power to the motors. Depending on the type of robot used and its maximum velocity you could simply calculate a worst-case distance the robot would travel.
