Limit of the file size to import a STEP file?

Postby lwrightson » Tue Sep 26, 2017 11:09 am

hi, it's been a while since I have used Adept's robots.
I have the latest version of ACE( 3.7.3.150)
I am using a Cobra600.
I am currently using ACE in emulation mode as I don't have the robot yet.
I am trying to import a few STEP files for my robot cell and EOATs. The EOAT file is smaller. (8,00KB) and I am able to import them ok. But when I try to import the Larger file (126,000 KB) I get an error about not being able to create the MESH.
I am wondering if there is a hard limit on the size of the STEP file? ( I also tried IGES version of the same model and it also failed to import)
I know other brands of Robots Sim software seem to have limits on the size.
also
I have not been able to adjust the Pitch or YAW of an imported CAD file.
many of the other brands of Robot sim software do allow me to correct it when the designer picks the wrong center. ( they were 6 axis robots)

Thanks for any help.

Hi,

we recommend a max size of 30-40 MB.

Best Regards

Hey Adept !

On a 64 Bit Windows with 32 GB of RAM, it is ridiculous to have an out-of-memory error.
If you would debug your mesher, and possibly port it to 64 Bit, this problem would be gone.
