custom tool flange - mounting

Postby sathish » Thu Jun 28, 2012 5:43 am

Hey all,
Should I mount the custom tool flange to the robot tool flange concentrically? Should I check the concentric with the help of dial indicator? Is this process mandatory? I was instructed to mount the custom tool flange to the robot tool flange by checking the concentric. If not, would I get any problems during the process of adept sight camera calibration? Kindly help. Thanks in advance.

It is not mandatory to mount your tooling concentric with the robot z-axis. Most users prefer this mounting method because it aligns the robot coordinate system with their tool.

Please look at the attached drawing. It shows the dimensions of the robot flange. Specifically, the inside diameter is a controlled dimension and can be used in combination with the dowel pin to create a repeatable mounting with your custom tooling.

Also, the Adept Sight camera calibration can accommodate for custom tooling, simply answer the questions during the calibration wizard.
