Add a linear Axis to a MV Controller

Postby jespinos » Tue May 18, 2010 1:00 am

Do you know if it is possible to add a extra linear axis to a CS7 STAUBLI RX90 robot with a 6-axis arm and an adept handler of VME, see attached photos.

The axis will be a cartesian axis SMC (LJ1 Series Electric Actuator).

Would you be so kind to tell me the necessary for it?

Hello jespinos,

It should be possible to add 4 Motion Interface Modules per controller acording to the "Adempt Motion developer's guide".
You have an MV-19 contorler with only one Motion Interface Module one can see in the pics. So you can add an MI6 or MI3 module
reprogramm the V+ User programms.
The Problem would be to find someone who is able to do this in a reasonable a mount of time and cost. (The MV contorller are out off lifetime I think) :-( And if you don't have Motion Interface Module as spare parts .... buying one from the used market could be
so costly like new ones. :-( (And the performance of such old stuff isn't very exiting compared to new equipment for example PPC controled VME-Bus Controllers)
