Setting clearance parameters, or "trouble with tight spaces"

Postby ToddR » Mon Dec 12, 2011 12:41 pm

Clearance settings dictate how close the robot is allowed to move to perceived obstacles. You are given options for increasing and decreasing the required clearance based on the speed of the robot, and even the option to use the emergency stop of an obstacle in the planned path of the robot is expected to come too close or hit the robot before the robot can stop by decelerating.

If you notice that your robot moves very slowly through doorways or other tight spaces, or stops too quickly when it perceives an approaching obstacle, changing these clearance settings may help to resolve your issues. Conversely, if your robot moves too close for comfort to obstacles, or doesn't slow down rapidly enough, these settings may also help improve its behavior.

Please see the attached document for a more detailed explanation of the Robot Configuration settings related to front and side clearance.
